Centers for Disease Control (CDC) officials said late last week rubella (German measles) is no longer considered a health threat in this country. Nevertheless, the so-called experts still urge no letup in vaccinations for rubella. In fact, one of the “expert” doctors quoted in the piece had treated one case of rubella “a few years ago.” And another doctor, a trustee with the American Medical Association, believes the eradication of rubella is enough justification for medicine to do a better job at vaccinating Americans for other illnesses too.
You be the judge. According to Dr. Donald Miller’s popular piece, A User-Friendly Vaccination Schedule, only 56 cases of measles were reported in 2003, out of a population of almost 300 million in this country.
Just another example of a vaccine that is given that is no longer needed. Of course, this is nothing new. The entire Western hemisphere has been certified to be free from polio since 1994. There have been less than 10 cases of polio reported in the United States during this time, all from immigrants coming into the United States. There is virtually no risk of infection, yet millions of children are given this absolutely unnecessary vaccine.
When I first started practicing in 1985, children received a total of 33 vaccinations prior to the age of 5. Now that number is nearly 100, and is expected to grow even higher with many vaccines in the pipeline. As most of you know, this is a major challenge to the future health of this country. Children were never designed to have this type of assault to their immune system. The introduction of so many vaccines at such an early age has a pernicious effect on the balance between cellular and humoral immunity and clearly leads to a risk of autoimmune diseases.
Then, of course, there is the toxic preservatives and immune adjuvants like aluminum and mercury that are in the vaccines. Last but not least, someone has to pay the drug companies to “reward” them for the privilege of inflicting so much damage on our kids. We are having a tough enough time competing internationally now and wasting precious health care resources on therapies that only worsen our health simply doesn’t make sense for anyone… but the drug companies.
